A high-level United Nations conference, co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, has brought together dozens of countries to revive momentum for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The summit, however, is being boycotted by both the United States and Israel, who criticize the event as counterproductive and ill-timed. UN Secretary-General António Guterres and other leaders have stressed that a two-state solution is the only credible path to lasting peace, especially as the war in Gaza continues and humanitarian conditions worsen. Saudi Arabia reiterated that normalization with Israel is impossible without the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Despite strong international calls for action, the absence of the US and Israel casts doubt on the conference's immediate impact.
